CPA NWT/NU is the professional accounting organization in Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
It operates under the three legacy territorial Acts of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The purpose of the Acts is to: protect the public; protect the integrity of the accounting profession regulated under the Act; promote and increase the competence of registrants; and regulate the conduct of registrants.
The body protects the public interest by:
- setting education and experience standards to become a CPA;
- setting education and experience standards to provide professional and public accounting services to the public;
- setting and enforcing high professional and ethical standards;
- promoting and increasing competence of members by providing a comprehensive program of learning opportunities;
- assessing the continuing competency of members;
- enforcing practice standards and rules of professional conduct of registrants; and
- providing a means by which complaints can be dealt with in a fair and expeditious way by investigating and adjudicating complaints against members.
Submitting a Complaint against a CPA
As a self-regulating professional organization, it is very important that our members, firms and students act in a professional, ethical and competent manner at all times.
If you feel that the service you have received from a CPA NWT/NU member or firm, or the conduct of a member, firm or a candidate in the CPA Professional Education Program, has been unprofessional, unethical or incompetent, you can download and complete the complaint form and email it to [email protected] and it will be addressed through a disciplinary process set out in the appropriate legacy Act.
