CPA NWT/NU has different scholarship opportunities for students.

CPA NWT/NU Distinction Scholarship

CPA NWT/NU awards two scholarships of $500 to NWT/NU resident CPA students enrolled in CPA PEP or CPA preparatory courses with Distinction.

Criteria

To apply, applicants must:

  1. Submit a cover letter explaining reasons why they should be awarded the scholarship.
  2. Within 60 days of the most recent transcript showing achievement of distinction.

CPA NWT/NU CPA PEP Scholarship

CPA NWT/NU awards 2 scholarships of $1,000 to NWT/NU resident CPA students who consistently demonstrated superior academic achievement throughout their CPA student careers.

Priority consideration will be given to Indigenous Aboriginals.

Criteria

To apply, applicants must:

  1. Submit an essay of 250 to 500 words detailing:
    1. the reasons why the candidate should be awarded the scholarship;
    2. extracurricular activities;
    3. future career goals; and
    4. if they should be given priority consideration.
  2. Submit most recent transcripts.
  3. Submit two current letters of support.

CPA NWT/NU Post Secondary Scholarship & CPA Preparatory Courses

CPA NWT/NU awards two scholarships of $1,500 to NWT/NU resident students with a strong academic background and an interest in pursuing the CPA designation and are enrolled in a relevant field of study.

Priority consideration will be given to those students who are:

  1. Indigenous Aboriginal; and
  2. natural or adopted children of an active member in good standing of CPA NWT/NU.

Criteria

To apply, applicants must:

  1. Submit an essay of 250 to 500 words detailing:
    1. the reasons why the candidate should be awarded the scholarship;
    2. extra curricular activities;
    3. future career goals; and
    4. if they should be given priority consideration.
  2. Have proof of acceptance at a Canadian University, accredited college, technical school or institute of technology.
  3. Submit most recent transcripts
  4. Submit two current letters of support.

Lee-Anne Tomkins Community Service Award

CPA NWT/NU awards one Scholarship of $1000 to NWT/NU resident members or students of CPA NWT/NU in good standing.

Preference will be given to a student who is enrolled in public practice stream.

Criteria

To apply, applicants must:

Submit an essay of 250 to 500 words detailing the reasons why the candidate should be given the award by outlining the following:

  1. Extracurricular activates undertaken in the past 12 months with details on the activity and hours of commitment
  2. Extracurricular activities involved in the last five years with the roles, responsibilities and impact on the organization, community and the CPA Association; and
  3. Plans/commitments for extracurricular activities. For example: elected to the CPA NWT/NU Board for a three-year term
